Along Route 125, nestled in winding backroads, you’ll find Clayville Historic Site in small town Illinois. It’s a quaint little historic 1800’s estate and the perfect backdrop for Jake and Haley’s wedding. This wedding day included an absolutely stunning color palette, gorgeous boho floral arrangements, and the most down to earth, sweetest couple!
Jake and Haley have been together for close to 10 years and have three beautiful children. The wedding party was comprised of their closest family and friends. Needless to say, it felt like the best backyard family party and everyone present would tell you they felt loved like family! These two just simply embraced the flow of the day and enjoyed each other. I absolutely loved portrait time with these two because they are so close after almost a decade of love, they were so easy going and fun!
There were simple yet sentimental touches throughout the day. Haley chose to recieve a family heirloom at the alter, a grandmother’s gorgeous vintage wedding band for her wedding day. (Though you may remember her unique black diamond ring from their engagement session.) Haley very thoughtfully tucked photos of Jake’s dad, who recently passed, around the handle of two her bridesmaid’s bouquets as they are Jake’s sisters. There was also a sweet image of Jake’s father displayed on his boutonnière and he wore a family bracelet that had been passed down to him to complete his details. The bridal suite was a bit teary as Haley presented thoughtful gifts to her bridesmaids and both her mom and Jake’s mom.
Planning an outdoor wedding in the midwest is often a guessing game until the day before or day-of. It can change pretty quickly and drastically. We lucked out and had sunshine and warm weather, though we did have quite the wind gusts after the ceremony for portraits & bridal party pictures!
While Haley chose not to do a first look with Jake, she did do a first look with her dad and her two sons. It was so special, and let me tell you the smiles on those little boys’ faces when they turned around and saw mom all dolled up! “Priceless”.
Following the ceremony, Jake and Haley were met with countless hugs and congratulations in a greeting line. Then while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour and yard games, we did photos with the family and the full bridal party.
The reception was super cozy in a rustic little barn, complete with twinkle lights and tables full of guests enjoying the evening. Even though it was a fall wedding, the evening had the emotion of a perfect summer night.
Enjoy some of my favorites from their day!
